Phase One: Ideation and Planning
Brief:
We were asked to design a violin based on similar principles using components such as linear potentiometers and possibly amplifiers but also to take it a step further to interact with the user and provide feedback on the quality of the performance through simple interfaces.
A theatrical Victorian hat tailor made for the novella turned play “A Christmas Carol” that changes colour depending on Ebenezer Scrooge’s mood. Bah! Humbug!
Intended to add an extra dimension of theatrical drama, this hat aims to emphasise the character’s feelings and actions as well as revealing the character’s true feelings to the audience.

PROJECT INTRODUCTION
For our project, we took on the challenge to create a reaction time game which tests a users reaction in multiple speeds. The user will be given points based on how quickly they respond to the light turning on. In the beginning, when the light instantly turns on, the user will have the max score which is kept being decreased through time. The user’s score is stored within the game and the difficulty increases. The user has to press a specific coloured button depending on the specific coloured light turns on. The user will lose their lives if they take too long or if they press the incorrect button corresponding to the LED colour. Read more “GROUP 5: REACTION GAME” →
THE Port-O-Guard:
By Group 3: Kamsi, Haaris, Ntokozo and Sujan
For our project we chose to work on the security system brief. This took us to firstly brainstorming what kind of objects we want to make. We thought of a Lock that keeps laptops shut, Safes and RFID’s as a general concept.
Our mission: To create a client-interactive system that can be used for the security of an object owned by them or their home.
Our brief: We want our product to be able to detect AND alarm a client when their home has been broken into.
The smart mirror is a project we believe would be helpful for everyone on a daily basis. The purpose of the mirror is to provide you with information about the day ahead, such as the date, the time, the weather, breaking news or your plans for the day (calendar). All of this information can be accessed in many different ways nowadays, but with our gadget it would be easier to access it during the morning routine without losing time, since you would be talking to your mirror while doing your make-up, your hair or getting dressed.
